The hilt of this talwār is of a type found on many swords produced in the Punjab during the Sikh period. It has a large pommel disk and a knuckle-bow terminating in a lion's head. The surface is decorated with silver koft-garī in a repeating floral pattern on one side where each flower has a raised central disc. The silver has oxidised with age. The koft-garī on the other side appears to be in gold. The blade appears to be locally manufactured.
